Hello my name is Perry and I am a fun, local Oak Grove golf coach with over 28 years of playing experience and well over 13 years of teaching experience! I was born and then raised in the islands of the Bahamas (Freeport, Grand Bahama). I was introduced to the game of golf by chance at the age 11. I was simply riding along with my mom one afternoon after school and she just happened to know and was an acquaintance of the local golf club pro. He invited us out to the driving range that day and I was just excited to drive on a golf cart! We eventually made it to the driving range and I got a handful of balls to basically pass the time. At the time, I was literally playing every sport and never really even considered the great game of golf!
So, in passing the time I attempted on my own to take a few swings, then eventually attempt to hit the golf ball. I teed it up and swung, surprisingly, I was hitting it and pretty well. But, I had hit one shot in particular that felt ‘perfect’…as if I couldn’t hit it any better. I wanted to repeat that shot, I just knew I could. I’d hit it so flush that it didn’t even feel like I had hit anything! From that moment on I was hooked to the game, the very first day I picked up a golf club! From that point I then immediately joined the junior golf program which was every Saturday morning and the rest was history! As I continued to attend the program and eventually practicing on my own as well I quickly learned the game and gained the confidence to enter local golf tournaments both junior and regular tournaments. That eventually turned into tournaments throughout the Bahamas, then throughout the Caribbean and the United States, then worldwide. After leading my high school team to a National Championship I went on to play collegiate golf at Missouri Valley College from 2005-2009. I’ve won a countless amount of golf tournaments in 5 different countries and 2 different continents. I am currently a 0 handicap and I just love the game, truly passionate about it. I also love diagnosing or analyzing various golf swings because none are unique. I love teaching and hopefully can do so for the rest of my life!!! I teach golf lessons right here in the Oak Grove area but I am willing to travel up to 15 miles!
