The term “par” refers to the amount of strokes that are expected for that particular hole. The term “birdie” is one stroke under par. The term “bogey” is one stroke over par and the term “eagle” is two strokes under par. A “double bogey” is two strokes over par and “double eagle” is three strokes under par for a hole.
